Hero MotoCorp Ltd., the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers, said it will launch its XPulse series of 200cc premium motorcycles early next year.
The company announced the second in the XPulse series, the XPulse 200T.
While the original XPulse is an off-roader, the ‘T’ variant is built for longer rides and, according to the company, offers a more comfortable sitting position.
“It offers easy and comfortable riding posture thanks to its focus on ergonomics, and loading capability with its large luggage plate.”
The price has not been announced and the company did not supply a photograph of the new model either.
With this, the company has unveiled three models in the 200cc category, even though only one has been launched in the market yet.
The Xtreme 200R, the only one to be launched yet, is pitched as a city motorcycle. It has been named Hunk 200 in markets outside Asia.
“Both XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T are likely to be launched in the market towards the beginning of next year,” the company said today.
“The Adventure and Touring motorcycle segments are very popular across the world and here we are showcasing Hero’s vision for these segments with the XPulse 200T based on our unique XPulse platform,” said Malo Le Masson, Head of Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.
He said the company will “expand the XPulse platform” and add more products based on it by April-June next year.
It also has single channel anti-skid braking system, LED head and tail lamps, digital speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
“While we constantly strive to keep improving our existing iconic products, we have been currently focusing on developing higher capacity, youthful and exciting products,” said Chairman Pawan Munjal.
The company also unveiled two new 125cc scooters Destini 125 and Maestro Edge 125.
Unlike other models, the scooters have been designed for introduction in various markets across the world, and are compliant with Euro IV emission norms, it added.
Hero MotoCorp already has three popular scooters in the 110cc engine category.
The company hopes that the more powerful models help gain additional customer-traction and enter new markets.
125cc is currently the ‘sweet spot’ for the burgeoning scooter market in India.
